Synopsis

As he investigates a hidden Holocaust-era atrocity in Austria, Yoel, a world-renowned Israeli historian, is unearthing a painful truth close to home. An accidental discovery of classified documents reveals that Yoel’s mother, an Orthodox Jewish woman, has lived under an assumed identity for decades. Plunged into professional and personal crisis, Yoel starts questioning everything he thought he knew about his life and his family. An engrossing thriller from first-time director Amichai Greenberg.

“This question of identity and who we are is rising now. You see it in Catalonia, in Brexit, in America. You have these extremes of very liberal and very nationalist,”

Amichai Greenberg, director of The Testament
